How Relationship Problems Occur And What To Do About Them
Some common relationship problems arise in the bedroom
We're not going to spell it out for you graphically, but let's just say that intimacy scares us all a little bit. There is not a lot you can do when it comes to avoiding relationship problems that stem from it, and the bottom line is that communicating your feelings honestly is the best way to ensure lasting relationship health. No one is perfect. We are all worried about getting hurt and we all do things we wish we could take back. You will never be shy on questions, whether you are just starting an online relationship or one conceived at the workplace, but you can probably stave off the most severe damage when things go poorly.
You are no magician. You do not know how things are going to play out and you sure can't predict how relationship problems can be best handled. But you can be sensitive to others' needs and try to talk things out.
- For instance, we once had a gentleman write to us who was rather distraught over a dating issue he had. While he had never meant to hurt anyone's feelings there was little doubt that he brought this one upon himself. After starting a nice relationship with a girl from work, he brought her home after the third date and things were getting pretty hot and heavy between the two. He decided to play a game that he learned back in college. Just when things were progressing nicely and he could sense that Bev, his soon-to-be ex, was in the mood, he whispered the name of another co-worker, Kelly, in her ear. The game was called "the Rodeo," and the point was to see if he could stay on top of her for eight seconds before being bucked off by the angry Bev,
While this was understandably an incident that took Bev awhile to come to grips with, even relationship issues like this were able to be handled through communication. The guy professed his love to Bev and apologized for weeks. It wasn't worth it.
