The Keys to Successful Relationships

Love and relationships can be tricky. You often have to make sacrifices or learn how to compromise with the one you love to make your relationship work. But if you keep the following things in mind, those things are much easier to do:

Successful relationships require constant communication. If you have a problem with your partner, you have to let him or her know. Otherwise, how will he or she know what behavior is annoying you? While talking is an important key to most relationships, asking questions and listening to one another is even more important. Listen with your head and your heart.
Successful relationships don't have unrealistic expectations. When you're first dating someone, you might find it difficult to find any fault with that person. After all, isn't he or she just perfect? Tone it down a little there. Nobody's perfect. Everyone has faults, and the sooner you realize your partner's faults, the sooner you can determine if they are things you can live with or not. You'll probably find that when you love someone, you can overlook little annoyances with them that you might not have been able to get past with someone who was, say, just a roommate.
Successful relationships involve respect for each other. Enough said.
People in successful relationships fight fair. They don't criticize one another or resort to name-calling. They work on constructive solutions to problems. They don't make unfair assumptions. At times, there may be things that you have to agree to disagree about and leave the topic alone. (This relationship advice goes back to the last bullet-point about respect.) Treat your significant other the way you would want to be treated.
