Win Her Heart With Love Letters!
Most men don't want to put their feelings into words--or on paper, for that matter. But years ago, many men wrote love letters to their wives and girlfriends. Since so few men write today, it's all the more endearing to receive one from a boyfriend or husband.
Getting started writing love letters to your loved one
Obviously, you want to address your significant other. You can stick with the obvious, "Dear Jane," or you could fancy it up a bit by writing, "My Dearest Jane," or "Dearest Jane." Of course, if that doesn't sound like you, don't write that way. That's the main rule of thumb. When she reads your love letter, she's going to picture you in her head and hear your voice as she reads it. So don't write fancy if that's not the way you speak. In that way, writing love letters is easy. Just write it the way you'd say it.
Of course, love letters are easier to write when you're separated by great distances and don't have access to email or phone because you can tell your lover how much you miss her. But even if you live at the same address, you can still mail a letter to her. How sweet and romantic is that? Practical? No. Logical? No. But definitely sweet and romantic to author love letters, however brief or cheesy they might seem to you. Even if it goes something like this, it's appreciated:
Dear Jane,
You might think it's silly that I'm mailing you love letters when you will see me tonight and just saw me this morning, but I thought mailing a letter to you to remind you how much I love and appreciate you would make your day better. (I hope it will, anyway!)
Anyway, I love you and I will see you tonight.
Love, John
See? Expressing your true love does not have to be a huge process. You don't have to cast some magical love spell or pour your life story onto the page. It does not have to be a long, elaborate novel. This small sentiment tells her you took enough time to write the letter, and put enough thought into it to mail it as a romantic surprise. It's a sweet way to show your love.
Of course, you can include a love poem or make your letter longer, but again, it's the thought that counts.
